I’m not one for believing in creating New Years resolutions once a year, but I do believe every year is an opportunity to become a new you. And let’s face it – it’s a NEW DECADE! For the past three years I’ve said “I will do X by 2020.” In an effort to not let myself down, I’m holding myself accountable and hope to inspire you to do the same! New year, NEW YOU.
New year, new you, new habits
So, we’re not entirely new just because it’s a new year BUT, we must create new habits if we’re going to take it to the next level! Did you know the future of your success lies in your daily routines and habits? Think about that…
What you do every single day builds up to the big picture success in the future.
Are you doing all the things that will get you there? Take a look at your daily routines and ask yourself:
- Is this serving my goals?
- Does doing this better my life?
- Will I be thankful 3 months from now by doing this today?
Write down everything you do in a typical day, then replace anything not serving you with BETTER habits.
New year: read, listen, look
I love starting out new chapters of my life by finding some GOOD inspirational/motivational content.
Start this year by grabbing a new book or listening to a podcast. (Podcasts are completely free – yay!) You wouldn’t believe how much excitement you’ll gain by doing this. Not to mention, the valuable things you’ll learn along the way for your life and career or business.
Here are a few suggestions:
- Book: Girl, Wash Your Face – Rachel Hollis
- Book: Work Party – Jaclyn Johnson
- Book: The Woman I Wanted to be – Diane Von Furstenburg
- Podcast: The Start Today Morning Show – Rachel and Dave Hollis
I use Audible to listen to books right from my phone. I like to listen while I’m cleaning or driving. You can get your first one free when you sign up for an account!
New year: schedule it out
One of the easiest ways to stay on task and consistent is to schedule everything out.
Every day I start by writing down 5 things I am grateful for, my core anchors and a to do list/schedule of my to do’s. This practice has GREATLY changed my routine and in turn, made such a positive impact on my life in all aspects.
Make a small investment in a planner and write out your daily schedule. I am in the final stages of creating a fabulous planner (full of my daily routines) for all of you to do just this!
It will have gratitude practice, your core anchors, and lot’s of other goodness that planners just don’t have! Stay tuned for an announcement coming soon!
Summary
Remember, your future success lies in your daily routines and habits! Focus on that each day as you make plans. New year, new you!
