Three Free Things You Can Do Right Now To Make Your Dream A Reality
You know that dream you’ve had ever since you can remember?
You know how every time you see someone else living YOUR dream you beat yourself up a little bit and convince yourself if you had started when you first thought of it you could be them? Do you ever feel stuck with where to start?
If you answered yes to all these things guess what? YOU’RE NORMAL! Trust me, I’ve been there. Everyone feels these things, it’s how you handle them that makes or breaks your dream. Let’s talk about how to make your dream a reality. Want to hear how simple it is? Let me break it down for you.
A little about how I turned my dream into a reality
When I started my dream, a blog called Feast On Fashion, at the end of 2015, I was a girl in a successful corporate career at a young age. I’ve always had a passion for fashion and beauty and was stuck, wondering how I could incorporate that into my day job for the longest time.
I knew I didn’t want to work in retail but I needed to do SOMETHING to fulfill that side of me. I honestly don’t even remember how I landed on the concept of blogging but I do know it gave me the freedom to take my passion of fashion and beauty and turn it into whatever I needed my outlet to be.
Fast forward a year later a few years later, tens of thousands of subscribers that grew over night and more experience I decided I wanted to do something more with my dream of Feast On Fashion. It was time for it to evolve into something more – a lifestyle and personal growth brand that would help women have the courage to live authentically as themselves and fulfill their dreams. Provide content to be you, break free and break through.
And so Whispering in Wonderland began
You want to know how my dream all began? I just did something. That simple – I had the concept of Whispering in Wonderland in mind and ran with it. I spent days designing my own WordPress site and creating content like crazy! I started with what I knew and made a commitment to stay consistent.

1. Surround yourself with content around making your dream a reality
It’s a common belief you must have a detailed plan of your dream mapped out on paper – exactly what you want to do and then strategically go for it. Yes, that’s a great idea, if you know exactly what you want! Then, that plan will change anyway. Don’t let the pressure of that idea force you to agonizing over details. JUST DO SOMETHING!
I remember how awkward, exciting and silly I felt publishing to the world that I had a blog. You know what? I was right. I was right that feeling awkward over a passion is awkward in and of itself. I had to throw that shit right out the door immediately. I was right in feeling silly, silly to think this couldn’t turn into something greater with a little hard work and dedication. Finally, I was right to feel excited – BECAUSE WHY WOULDN’T YOU BE EXCITED ABOUT YOUR DREAM?
So what does that mean for your dream? What IS something?
Well, that’s partially up to you – but I can help you start. As with everything you can find some line of commonality no matter what it is you’re interested in. Start at the basic level with something you do daily. On social media? Start following accounts your passion is related to if you’re not already. Create a separate Instagram account that only follows people that already work is your dream work if you’d like.
2. Invest in some books
Got a passion for reading? Put that to good use. I spend a ton of time researching and reading the best books for my passion; personal development.
I believe in always having a book on hand at any given time. If you’re not into reading physical books, sign up for a Kindle account and read electronically. Still not your cup of tea? Audible is a great app for audio books. I prefer reading a physical copy of a book but I’ve listened to my fair share of audio books while getting chores done or driving.
Books are a cheap way to educate yourself rather quickly. They also are a great way to stay focused on making your dream a reality because the content is all in one place. While I use the Internet for research, it can get overwhelming and time consuming before you know it.
I’m currently reading The Body Keeps the Score; Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel Van Der Kolk, M.D.
3. Meet people
One of the best methods to feeding your dream is getting out and talking to people in the same industry. Some will fall in your lap and others you will seek out. Not everyone you reach out to will respond and that’s ok, don’t get discouraged. You’re still doing something and those that do respond will fuel your fire more than if you hadn’t.
Since the world looks a little different right now due to the pandemic, this is actually easier than it would be otherwise.
Start by searching Facebook groups that are related to your dream. I guarantee there’s at least 10 you can join! You can also use apps like Meetup to find people in the same industry. Since everything is so virtual right now, there are endless opportunities to find people to help make your dream a reality.
I’ve never met with a client or fellow peer in the industry that didn’t lead to other relationships or opportunities from the initial contact. Your dream will start to take shape as soon as you dive in!
Summary – make your dream a reality
Remember, everyone starts somewhere with a simple idea or sea of ideas, but they all began in the same place – they just DID something. Don’t give up after a few failed attempts. You will learn from everything you do.
