Over the last year I’ve gained about 11 lbs of what I like to call “happy weight” haha! I’ve lost about a third of it so I thought I’d share my journey of getting back to my normal weight with you!
Heaviest weight
Here is my heaviest weight this past fall at 129 lbs. My normal is around 118 lbs and where I physically feel best. Disclaimer: I am not claiming 129 is too heavy or anything else negative, I’m 5’3 and used to being around 118 and feel my best there! This is not a post to encourage others to lose weight, just share how I’ve lost a few lbs without a ton of exercise so far!
I’ll be the first to tell you I love how women look with curves. I think it’s sexy and empowering! I’ve certainly felt like a different version of myself with extra curves!
Time for a change
I started to feel uncomfortable when a lot of my clothes wouldn’t fit. Then, I found myself buying new clothes in bigger sizes, knowing my body wasn’t its normal size. It felt like I was waisting money. I gained weight over the last year because I was trying to gain a few lbs back that I had unintentionally lost in the months prior. Turns out, I took it a little too far with eating huge portions and dessert after every meal! I’ve never really had to watch my weight so gaining and losing has been a bit new.
Current Weight
This picture was taken a few days ago for my last blog post about DIY Valentine’s Day decor. I currently weigh about 125 lbs. I can tell you that losing around 4 lbs already feels like a big difference!
How I’m currently losing weight
When I decided it was time for a change, I decided I was going to go to the gym at least five days a week. It felt good to be back in the gym, but I quickly realized I couldn’t commit to that schedule. I got discouraged and felt like I wasn’t going to make it happen.
The thing that makes a huge difference in weight loss
What I failed to realize is that diet is 80% of your weight loss and working out is 20%. I started to make a change in my eating habits about a month ago. I made a commitment to eat healthier meals, smaller portions and not completely restrict myself when I wanted something sweet! So far it’s worked wonders for my journey. I eat more salads with chicken or fish, less carbs when I can and more high protein meals.
Normal/Goal weight
Here is a pic of me at my normal weight of 118 lbs. My goal is to get here in the next few months by staying committed to eating healthier and letting it come off slowly. Losing it slowly, or at a consistent pattern over time, is much easier to maintain than any fad diet.
Summary
So – I’m currently around 125 lbs and will write another post on this topic when I get back to my normal 118. I just wanted to share my journey with you as it seems to be something that a lot of people go through in life.
