How to Gain Traction on Your Dream and See Results
Want to know how to gain traction on your dream and see results? One of the biggest traps people get stuck in is spending a ton of time researching or figuring out how to do their dream. Notice – the action verb here is researching, NOT doing. Let’s dig in…
So, you’ve finally figured out what you want to be when you grow up. This is a HUGE moment, no matter how old you are or where you’re at in life.
I’m not sure if you went to college or not but if you’re like me, I had NO IDEA what I wanted to do at 18 when I entered college. I just knew it was “the right thing to do” and my parents made me go.
In hind sight, I’m glad I did, but I do believe it’s not for everyone and “college” will look a lot different in the years to come!
Either way, let’s say you’ve figured out what you actually want to do regardless of whatever schooling you’ve had. Great! Now what?
Get out of your own way
You put the petal to the medal and get to researching. You spend countless hours down the internet research hole and get sucked in. You even find online courses that promise they’re going to help you make 6 figures tomorrow!
Be careful, before long you will get overwhelmed and spend hours, days, weeks, months and sometimes years “working” on your dream.
Yes, learning is important, but the best advice I can give you, from a former professional researcher, is to get busy and start doing!
But what does that mean for your dream?
It means show up. Show up locally, show up online. Show up.
The type of business or career your dream lies within will dictate where to show up more.
If you’re an entrepreneur who gains most of your business online, show up the most where your clients hang out.
If you’re business is local to your city, show up at things like networking events, set meetings with others in the community, learn about your local chamber of commerce.
Just show up! Start putting yourself out there, the rest will fall into place. You don’t even have to hall all the answers to your dream for you to get started.
