How to Change Your Outlook to Achieve Your Goals
Is your outlook holding you back from achieving your goals? I’ll teach you exactly how to change your outlook to achieve your goals.
Create a plan for achieving one goal at a time
Many people have a grand vision for what their life should look like but don’t necessarily understand how to put the wheels in motion. I too was here a few years ago.
I knew I wanted to achieve major goals but had no idea where to even start. I learned over time I had to break it down and create a plan for achieving one goal at a time and then move onto the next. Doing so helped me to get more efficient along the way with each new goal.
Attempting to achieve the major goal at once only leads to confusion and overwhelm. No one can do it all and success is a lot of little wins along the way to the big win.
In my recent post here I give you four distinct ways to achieve your goals with laser focus.
Post affirmations in your most commonly visited places in your house
First understand what type of outlook you’d like to have vs the one you currently have. Do you want to be grateful, positive, motivated or have abundance in your life?
List the core elements of the outlook you want to have and then print out affirmations to post in your most commonly visited places in your house.
Here are some location ideas:
- On your bathroom mirror
- On your refrigerator
- On your bedroom wall
- In your car
- At your desk
- On the door you walk out of every time you leave your house
Evaluate who you surround yourself with to change your outlook
You are a combination of the top five people you spend the most time with. Let that sink in.
Are you investing in the right people in your life? Are they building you up and supporting your dreams or bringing you down?
If you want to change your outlook to achieve your goals this is a great place to do that.
It can include making some tough decisions about who has a place in your life and who doesn’t, but it’s crucial for your own personal development.
If you have someone in your life that’s constantly bringing you down or creating problems, they will always hold you back. They can do this in many ways by physically creating issues or mentally and emotionally blocking you from achieving your goals.
The mind is a powerful thing and if we’re not feeding it the right inputs we’ll quickly fall short of achieving our goals.
Read books on achieving goals
When I knew it was time to change my outlook to start achieving my goals I didn’t know where else to start but with personal development books.
I quickly became obsessed with the wealth of knowledge that was packed into 200 pages and took notes right inside the book.
Although there is all sorts of technology that exists out there now for digital books, I still like to have physical copies.
I like this because not only can I take notes and mark up the book as I go, I’m a results kind of girl and like to see my reading progress as I go. Then I add to my book collection on my book shelf so I can see them on display when I need a little motivation.
Here are some book suggestions for you:
- Girl Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis
- How to Get Sh*t Done by Erin Falconer
- The Joy of Missing Out by Tonya Dalton
Meditate using a guided app
If you’re like me, I was completely skeptical of meditation before I started practicing it. I had tried to do it on my own over the years but couldn’t understand how to and was unsuccessful.
The more time I spent researching on my own personal development journey, the more I kept hearing about how powerful meditation is.
In this post I talk about meditating using the app Insight Timer. It’s a free guided meditation app that allows you to filter by benefit.
I started small and chose the 5 minute meditations to practice in a quiet space in my house. The feeling I have after meditation is complete bliss, it definitely helps change my outlook to achieve my goals. My mind feels clear and ready to tackle the day.
