Can you think of a time (or times) where you felt on top of the world? Take a minute to reflect, we all have moments in our lives where we’re feeling REALLY good! Confidence is key in life. Here are four ways to build confidence RIGHT NOW, if you’re willing to commit!
Want a way to build confidence? Get that Booty in the Gym!
I know, it sounds like the last place to build confidence if you’re not used to working out. I was terrified to step one foot in the gym, let alone workout in front of others when I had no idea what I was doing.
Trust me though, after those first few awkward gym sessions you’ll LOVE the energy and happiness you feel after working out. Add some new found muscles or weight loss (if that’s your goal) and those are the sprinkles on top!
One of my favorite things to do is put on my headphones and blast a power play list for an hour without letting anyone interrupt me. Pandora has all sorts of stations for working out. I switch between rap music and upbeat club music – shout out to DJ Regard.
Mix it up and do some cardio and lifting or body strength training. No one said you had to run a marathon! I am the last person to run or like cardio. I usually start by walking 10 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical and then finishing up the same way after I lift or take a HIIT class.
Another way to build confidence? Your playlist
You know that power playlist we were just talking about? Take it with you everywhere! If you have the chance to listen to music throughout the day, why not?
No matter what day of the week it is, I constantly have music playing in the background. I find it super motivating and depending on my mood, an escape!
If you’re into listening to audio books opt for an inspirational or self-help title. I am currently listening to Buy Yourself the F*cking Lillies by Tara Schuster. She calls it like it is and teaches you how to remove barriers you’ve placed on yourself to get ahead in life. I highly recommend it!
Find Confidence in Building Relationships
Having a mentor or mentee relationship is one of the most powerful relationships one can experience, in my opinion. Find someone who is in your corner and willing to root for you as well as coach you – or vice versa.
If you’re looking for a mentor, seek out someone you admire – it can be in the way they lead their life inside or outside of work. Reach out and ask to connect for coffee or something simple to start.
If you’d like to mentor someone, there’s a good chance you’re already doing it with someone you know. Look around, chances are there is someone who is constantly asking you for help.
These relationships are great because they are built upon the understanding of wanting to help each other. I never walk away from one of my mentors or mentees feeling unempowered or less confident.
