Sunless tanner for the win!
Were or are you someone that has spent years in tanning beds? Here’s a scary fact – from the time I was 18 – 22 I religiously tanned in tanning beds almost every day…yuck, I know. While I loved it and loved being tan, I ended up having a few moles removed that were precancerous with the caution that I had several more suspicious ones. I was pretty stubborn about not quitting by the several people that had warned me to. I then came to the realization that I wasn’t going to take the risk and decided to switch to sunless tanning. I’m going to share my four FAVORITE sunless tanners after YEARS (and I mean YEARS) of searching for the perfect color.
Fake Bake Flawless Darker sunless tanner
Fake Bake is a designer sunless tanning line. I purchased my Fake Bake Flawless Darker at Ulta but I’ve also seen it at Bed Bath Beyond. It was somewhere between $30 – $40 but you can find it on Amazon much cheaper. The sunless tanner kit contains a mitt, gloves and bottle of the sunless tanner and a spray nozzle. You apply it using a spray bottle and mitt and it’s ready to wear instantly! I use this when I want to be tan for the day on the spot! Other than the color that’s my favorite thing about the product. It’s hard to find INSTANT sunless color that’s shows up and not streaky or orange. It’s a very natural color and you can apply a few coats if you want to be darker. There are lighter colors as well if you’re not ready for a dark tan. This tan washes off so you’d need to keep reapplying.
Loving Tan Ultra Dark sunless tanner
This is hands down one of my favorite sunless tanners around! Loving Tan is a company based out of Australia. You used to have to order it online and have it shipped but they now sell it at Ulta! It’s around $35. Out of all the tanners I use this one goes the quickest, it’s a smaller bottle. I found it on Instagram and decided to give it a try, I was instantly hooked! It’s a very smooth mousse that smells amazing! Sunless tanner that smells amazing?! I know, right!? The color of this tanner is awesome, it’s very natural looking and super dark! It seems to last the longest out of all the tanners in this post. I can use it about twice a week and keep my tan.
St Tropez Dark sunless tanner
St Tropez and Loving tan are similar in color and texture/application. I use the “dark” mousse but they recently came out with the “extra dark” version and I can’t wait to try it! It smells really good while applying. You also use a mitt (sold separately) to apply it. The color doesn’t last as long as Loving Tan for me but it’s very similar and it’s been around forever, they have an incredible reputation. This one costs around $44 and you can also find it at Ulta!
Vita Liberata Latte Dark Body Blur
Vita Liberata is a newer brand in the last several years. I’ve only tried the body blur product so far but they have a whole range of products claiming they last two weeks at a time! The body blur is designed to be like a makeup that you can apply anywhere on your body. I even mix it with my foundation and wear it as makeup on my face sometimes! It’s super smooth and can be applied however you like. I use a beauty blender to apply it to my face. I have the color Latte Dark which isn’t as dark as the products above but it does a great job covering any blemishes or uneven skin tone. This product costs around $45 and is worth it! You can purchase it at Ulta as well.
In Summary
Loving Tan is my favorite because of the color, longevity and smell. The rest definitely have their own perks and are close runners up.
