Blog content
Planning blog content doesn’t have to be something you struggle with! I did for years in a number of ways before I really got into a rhythm. I’m going to share four ways I use regularly to plan my blog content!
Social media stats
If you’re in the blogging world, or using social media for business purposes, you need to switch to a business account ASAP. You have on demand analytics of your content at your fingertips. I regularly look at my analytics to see which posts people are liking more, commenting more on, etc.
The more engagement you have, the better! You should pick your top posts and look at them by day, week and month to see where your stats are. Social media business accounts are a great free tool to help you plan your blog content. Often times people spend majority of time researching what they should write about when they have the answers in their own analytics!
Google analytics
While we’re on the topic of analytics, let’s talk Google. Another great way to plan your blog content is by regularly staying up to date on your Google Analytics. If you don’t have your site connected, there are plugins through WordPress that can help with this. I manually added the code to my site. If you need help, I can help you!
Google Analytics is another super powerful tool at your fingertips. If you’re a data nerd like me, you can slice and dice your stats in several different ways. I personally love seeing which pages and posts were viewed the most and where and how my visitors found my blog.
Photoshoots
I’ve had many approaches to planning blog content with photoshoots. I’ve tried taking pictures daily and I would advise you, it is not fun and gets exhausting. You will find that you’re adding unnecessary pressure on yourself and always overthinking your attire for the day.
The best approach I’ve found is to plan several outfits at once for a shoot. I typically choose 4-5 outfits and schedule the day, time and location. This makes it much easier to try outfits on ahead of time to make sure they look ok. It also helps you get into the right state of mind for a shoot. And yes, I’ve become an expert at hiding in the backseat of my car to change haha!
Internet research
Now that you’ve nailed down your own analytics and know what works best, you can do some internet research for your blog content! Let’s say one of your highest engagement posts was on flare jeans, sites like BuzzSumo allow you to search by topic or website to see the top trending articles for that search.
BuzzSumo shows you how many times someone shared a post and on which platforms. It ranks them from highest to lowest. There is also a paid version that gives you deeper access, as it only allows so many searches per month for free.
