Caught in the stuck-ness
The amount of people I talk to and witness that are stuck or lost in the middle of a transition are more than those who are not. Seem surprising? Probably not. What’s worse? They’re trapped in a pattern of researching.
It’s the one thing we can all get caught up in from time to time, or all the time, that relates us. And it is SO frustrating!
Many of us struggle with falling down the overwhelming internet research hole. Heck, it doesn’t even have to be the internet. Self help books, business books, podcasts, etc you name it!
It’s a simple pattern really –
- We see those that have the life we have always dreamt about having
- We obsess over figuring out how they are doing it
- We lose ourselves in research to solve the problem
Just typing this list is exhausting, but we have all been there, or are there. I’ll share with you some proven ways you can stop researching and start doing.
Days, weeks, months, years of researching?
So, you know there’s more to life. Your dream is out there waiting for you to snatch it up!
In your free time (or maybe all the time) you fantasize about what life could be. Maybe you believe everyone else already has it but you.
You go out, spend time socializing with your friends, you look and play the part but still feel like something is missing.
Maybe you are even struggling to keep up playing the part. Or it is straight up exhausting!
Then, you have this aha moment when you decide enough is enough! You’re going to go out there start living who you were made to be!
Now, we start the “simple” pattern mentioned above and begin to waste all the time on all the things.
You find one story about how someone quit their day job and started living their dream life, which leads you to the next similar story.
So you continue researching, you read on and on and on but don’t get any tactical solutions or start doing.
These stories keep you hooked and continuing the research trap for days, weeks, months OR EVEN YEARS.
Stop researching! Start doing
No seriously, stop the researching right now! Well, finish reading this fabulous post and then stop :).
Let’s be real, success looks a lot of different ways for everyone out there. No two people have the same definition.
But – those who consider themselves the most successful became that way because they stopped researching and started doing.
Just put your pen to the paper and begin. Start by making small goals for yourself every day.
Switch it up
If you don’t know where to start, wake up an hour earlier spend some time on yourself and make a to do list.
Start by thinking about small things you want to achieve each day, then grow to weeks, months and years at a time.
The little momentum will help you build up to living out who you were made to be and you’ll stop researching and start doing.
Be as specific as you can when you do this!
Remember, success is a lot of little wins along the way, it doesn’t just happen overnight!
