In today’s world, many people are looking to quit their corporate jobs and become a full time influencer. They see others like Jenny from Margo and Me or Lucy from Lucy’s Whims, create an Instagram and mimic their photos. While Jenny and Lucy are two of my absolute favorites, they stand out as influencers because they have a unique and authentic identity.
Be You
Seems simple, right? It’s easy to get caught up in the status quo. I have a personal belief in not being a follower. While I too have a blog about fashion and lifestyle all my posts are from the heart and things I live by and wear in every day life. I’ve been blogging for 4 years now (on multiple projects, with Boss Gal being my newest) and have felt the pressure to conform so many times. It’s in our human nature, right?
It starts all the way back in grade school, we all want people to like us, so we do what we need to fit in. A huge passion of mine is coaching young girls and women to not be afraid to break the mold and NOT be a follower. I love the dreamers and doers! It’s so important to teach others to be authentic in who they were made to be and constantly revisit it.
Break Free
Break free from what? Whatever is holding you back from becoming you authentic self. If you’re a blogger, start by analyzing your brand. Look at your website, your social media accounts, etc and ask yourself if they really represent who you are. If you’re a corporate career lady, look at your job. Is it bringing you true happiness? Does it fit you well?
No matter what you do in life, you’ll always be chasing something greater if you’re not being authentic in who you are. Find the people, places and things around you that make you feel whole and focus on those.
Break Through
So – you’ve found your voice and brand. You’ve found the people, places and things who help you stay true to who you are in your beliefs. It’s time to break through! Being centered on who you are, and constantly revisiting it, is so important to survive the world. This stands true for the test of time. Those are are most successful do so because they have made a break through in themselves. They’ve not let someone else dictate their future, whether it’s a manager or industry they’re in.
What do you need to do to breakthrough?
